A portable (mobile-phone size), compact, cordless, single-channel, simple, fast and discrete medical device that senses the heart waveform and indicates potential ECG abnormalities. Heart monitoring device for home and clinical use.
The electrical impulse, which causes your heart to pump the blood through your body, can be recorded in the HeartScan ECG Monitor. In case of Cardiovascular disease, CVD, this impulse can become unstable and cause subjective symptoms.
You can record your symptoms such as heart palpitations when they happen and the recorded electrocardiogram can then be used for diagnosis.
Changes in your health condition such as "strange heartbeats", "sudden increase in heart palpitation," or an "irregular pulse" can be signs of a heart disease. However, if you go to the hospital after the symptoms stopped, your doctor may not be able to find any problem. If you record your electrocardiogram using the OMRON Portable Electrocardiograph while you experience certain problems, you can show it to your doctor and he can then use that information for diagnosis. By comparing your electrocardiogram rhythm and shape with normal waves, various heart diseases can be diagnosed.
- The Omron Heartscan is intended for screening and self-monitoring of cardiac events. (under professional supervision)
- The device can record, in high quality, up to 30 seconds of heart rhythm and waveform each time it is activated.
- After recording, the automatic evaluation software will check the collected data and provide an interpretative message.
- Directly after completing the measurement the recorded rhythm strip can be reviewed on the LCD screen.
- For further detailed evaluation the data can be transfered to a PC screen with the ECG-viewer software (Not included with this version - see HCG-801-E/SOFT).
- The SD memory card can store up to 300 recordings (with date and time) offering sufficient space for long-term monitoring.

- The HeartScan is very simple to operate, by both professinal and non-professional users.
- Included: SD Memory card, 2xLR03(AAA) batteries, instruction manual, quick reference card and storage pouch.
In Clinical Use, the HeartScan's characteristics make it a valuable addition to currently available diagnostic equipment. It offers a fast, simple and reliable way to closely observe your patient's heart rhythm and waveform. Clinical applications can be defined in several settings and in different patient profiles.
Ideal for:
- Persons or patients with cases suspected to have cardiac origin - palpitations, shortness of breath, pain in the chest, dizziness, etc.
- Persons with high risk pre-disposition to cardiovascular disease: hypertension patients, diabetics, obese persons, high cholesterol cases, heavy smokers, etc.
- Patients that have undergone cardic treatment or other intervention, for closer monitoring.
Suitable for primary care in the office, out-patient unit, homecare situation and for secondary care in the clinic, ward, etc.
Basic Functioning Principle of the Omron HeartScan:
During measurement, device indicates:
- Actual Heart Rate
- Detail ECG
- 30 second ECG recording with window indication
After measurement, the device will indicate:
- ECG analysis result on:
- Heart rate
- Heart rhythm
- Heart waveform
- 30 seconds average heart rate, 3 stage deviation level indication
- Store data yes or no (none or slight deviations from normal)
- Data is stored (moderate deviations from normal)
- Data is stored, please show your doctor (significant deviations from normal)
When device is brought to the doctor, he can scroll recorded data and find window display for:
